I’m an independent healthcare journalist, currently writing a book about the science and history of fertility for WW Norton. I write about how new technology is moving under our skin, changing our bodies, our health, and the way we live our lives.

My first job in journalism was as an editor at The Caravan Magazine in New Delhi. After getting an M.A. in journalism from Columbia, I was a Hearst Fellow at the Albany Times Union and the San Francisco Chronicle. In San Francisco, I became obsessed with how the tech industry and the technology it produced were transforming the city (for better and for worse). I’ve been turning a critical eye toward mankind’s latest inventions ever since. I’m especially interested in stories at the intersection of science and culture, and in stories about the female body.

Previously, I’ve worked as a staffer at outlets including Bloomberg and Gizmodo. In addition to writing, I’ve also written, reported, hosted and edited several podcast series. My 2024 podcast series, Prognosis: Misconception, is probably my most intimate piece of reporting to date: it followed my own personal journey through the fertility industry. And my 2021 podcast series on the rise of vaccine hesitancy in America, Doubt, won a silver Signal Award and was nominated for a Webby.

I live in Brooklyn with my husband, our two cats, Avalanche and Lewie, and a sassy beta fish named Beverly.
