The Biggest Breakthrough in Longevity May Start with Menopause
Hundreds of thousands of women undergo fertility treatments every year, and a huge slice of them do so because we are coupling up and starting families later than ever before. I became interested in scientists trying to find a new solution to this problem: Instead of working around the system when it’s not functioning quite right, these scientists aim to extend women’s reproductive years, potentially even eliminating menopause entirely. In this magazine feature for Bloomberg Businessweek, I write about the scientists working to pause menopause. This story was the inspiration for the book I am currently writing for WW Norton.
